Jawichre announces Chipu squad for Uruguay encounter

In their second match, Chipu will face the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7, at 9:45 p.m. E.A.T
Chipu are gearing up for a clash against Uruguay in the opening match of the World Rugby U20 Trophy on July 2nd, 2024.
The encounter will see the two sides clash, with their first meeting in 2019 leaving fans wanting more.
Head coach Simon Jawichre is looking forward to the match having prepared the boys since arriving in Scotland on June 28.
Their days have been filled with gym sessions, pitch practices, and video analysis sessions, all meticulously planned to counter Uruguay's strengths.
"Our squad selection is heavily influenced by our analysis of Uruguay. We've identified their fast-paced attack and robust defense as key areas to address," he said.
Jawichre acknowledged the significance of the opening match, noting that it would be crucial in lighting the path for the youngsters.
"For now, this is the biggest game of their lives. We believe it can go either way, and we're approaching it with the utmost seriousness," he remarked.
In their second match, Chipu will face the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7, at 9:45 p.m. E.A.T.
Their final pool match will be against the USA on Friday, July 12.
Chipu will be keen to improve on their sixth-place finish from last year’s edition.
While in Kenya, the team camped at the Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS) and enjoyed several joint training sessions with their elder brothers, Simbas.
In Pool A, host Scotland will compete against Japan, Hong Kong, and Samoa.
Teams will play in a round-robin format during the group stage to determine the final pool rankings.
The final rankings will determine the matchups: the pool toppers will compete in the final, runners-up will face off in the bronze final, third-placed teams will battle for fifth place, and the bottom-placed teams will compete for seventh place.
