Among the headline stories is the return of Homeboyz RFC to the Division One category after their triumphant run at the Embu 7s, where they lifted the Division Two crown with a nail-biting 7-0 victory over NYS Spades in the final.
The Deejayz, as they are fondly known, will be out to rekindle memories of their past glory days on the circuit.
Their Pool C Varisty opponents, however, promise a tough test. Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) are fresh from reaching their maiden semifinal at the Embu 7s, where they bowed out to KCB Rugby.
Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks, who fell short of the quarters in Embu, will be keen to bounce back, while Daystar Falcons must sharpen their finishing if they are to challenge at this level.
Pool A brings together KCB Rugby, Nakuru RFC, University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine, and Mombasa RFC. Nakuru will look to build on their Embu 7s quarterfinal appearance, while Machine make their second Division One outing of the season.
The Bankers, who failed to clinch the Embu 7s title, will be out to defend their Kabeberi 7s crown.
In Pool B, all eyes will be on Strathmore Leos, who are fresh from clinching a fourth consecutive Embu 7s title.
The students are pooled alongside National 7s Circuit defending champions Kenya Harlequin, Impala RFC, and tournament hosts Mwamba RFC, setting up a highly competitive group.
Pool D promises fireworks with Menengai Oilers, who claimed third place in Embu, squaring off against Kabras RFC, Embu RFC, and Kisumu RFC.
Meanwhile, Nondies RFC and Zetech University have been relegated to Division Two after their struggles in the previous leg.
