Kabras beat longtime rivals KCB 30-27 in a dramatic comeback victory secured at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday.
The 2022/23 Enterprise Cup finals came to a screeching halt on Saturday, April 15 at the RFUEA Grounds with Kabras RFC taming KCB Rugby 30-27 to retain the title for the third consecutive time.
The Bankers were leading 18-0 at half time, but the Sugarmen, under the guidance of Edwin Achayo, staged a comeback to win 30-27 at full time.
While teamwork is undoubtedly one of the key skills in rugby, some individuals exceeded expectations on Saturday. Heading into the week, here are the players that performed incredibly well.

DAN SIKUTA – KABRAS RFC
Sikuta’s role in the back row was incredible. He was fast at breakdowns and perfectly engaged in rucks, covering the ground quickly.
His attacking and defending skills were crucial in slowing down the Bankers. Sikuta’s key role was evident when he scored the first try for the Sugarmen. It was that try that served as motivation to the side, who went on to add more to eventually defeat KCB Rugby.

Sikuta was also the driving force behind the locks. It was that powerful scrum that blew away KCB Rugby’s chances of winning. Towards the end of the match Kabras RFC dragged KCB Rugby to their danger zone and scored a try to see the scores climb from 27-23 to 27-30 and Kabras won.
MICHAEL WANJALA – KCB RUGBY
While a number of rugby fans are used to Samuel Asati at position nine, Michael Wanjala is also a force to be reckoned with at scrum half. He was able to scan the field fast and make sober decisions.
Wanjala won a number of territorial battles for the Bankers courtesy of his proper scrum execution and tactical kicking skills. He was also efficient in defending.
LAMECK AMBETSA – KABRAS RFC
Ambetsa joined Kabras RFC during the January transfer window from MMUST Rugby. He has since started for Kabras in all their matches this year.
The speedster only needed 720 minutes to be a champion. He anticipated the ball, and ran with it like his life depended on it. He understood his role of finishing off Kabras’ flowing attacking moves. At one point however, his try was cancelled.
That truly was a moment of madness! Sanity was restored for a moment when that Try was disallowed but the Heat was on!!! 🔥

DARWIN MUKIDZA – KCB RFC
Mukidza recently announced his retirement from international rugby and chose to focus on his side KCB Rugby. He has been a great boost to the side.
This time, Mukidza played at right wing. He was critical in chasing high balls and providing attacking support play. His kicking mastery was also evident when he slotted in conversions for the side.
VALERIAN TENDWA – KABRAS RFC
The fly half is one of the key players who proved that age is just a number. He made his debut at Kabras RFC two seasons ago. He was quick in decision making, executing skills with precision and consistency. He mostly decided Kabras’ style of play, accurately kicking and calm under pressure.
JACOB OJEE – KCB RUGBY
The Kenyan international’s role at right wing was crucial. He easily evaded opponents, and scored a try for the Bankers. He was in the right position to receive the ball, and using his fast pace, weaved away from Kabras’ defense to score for his side.
Defensively, he fielded high kicks, clearing KCB’s territory and often performed covering tackles.
FIDEL MAINA – KCB RUGBY
Fidel was making his debut in the senior team at hooker position. His role in set pieces was crucial, as well as the scrums, mauls, and lineouts. He was able to carry the ball past Kabras’ defense, often against fierce tackling. Maina also scored a try for the side before halftime.
