Emphatic KCB whitewash relegation threatened Impala at the Den

The Bankers rolled in seven unanswered tries in the match as Impala's miseries were compounded

Reigning champions KCB successfully managed to record a bonus point win in their fourth game of the season as they swept aside a hapless Resolution Impala Saracens 47-0 in their Kenya Cup encounter staged at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday afternoon.

Despite being made to work hard for the win in the first half, an improved second half showing ensured the Curtis Olago coached side got all the maximum points available as the Bankers ran in 33 points to highlight the difference in class between the two sides.

Impala certainly made a good showing in the opening half but a series of poor decision making ended up costing the Oscar Osir led side as retired Shujaa captain Andrew Amonde landed a first half brace to give the Bankers a 14-0 half time lead following successful conversion attempts by Kenya Simbas international Darwin Mukidza.

Just before the break though, Impala certainly ought to, at least, have recorded some points on the scoreboard as they found themselves in a two versus one scenario against the KCB defense but poor decision making ensured they got none as the game went into the break.

In the second period, KCB's determination to get the bonus point pushed the team to dig deep and it was only a matter of time before Impala's resilience was broken.

The eight time Kenyan champions went over the whitewash five times as they recorded 33 points in the match to seal the 47-0 thumping at the Den, their third win of the season in four matches.

Following the defeat, Impala still find themselves rooted at the bottom of the log having not managed even a single point in their opening five games of the season.
