
Defending champions KCB bundled out as Quins, Kabras fight for title

Prinsloo 7s claimed its biggest scalp on Saturday as defending champions KCB were knocked out of title contention
National Sevens Circuit log leaders Kenya Harlequin, Prinsloo 7s defending champions Kabras RFC, Menengai Oilers, and Strathmore Leos have all advanced to the quarter-finals of the Prinsloo 7s.
This comes after pulsating pool matches played on Saturday 14 September at the Nakuru Athletic Club.
Round One
Zetech University opened their campaign in dominant style with a commanding 25-0 victory over Mombasa RFC.
Quins were the first to take on the pitch, and they had a close contest against Menengai Oilers. They emerged victorious with a 17-12 win in a thrilling encounter.
Nondies and Prinsloo 7s hosts Nakuru RFC ended their clash in a 5-5 stalemate, showcasing strong defenses from both sides.
National Sevens Circuit defending champions KCB Rugby defeated Mwamba 15-0 to kickstart their title defense on a high.
Strathmore Leos also started strong, defeating Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks 19-7, while Blak Blad and MMUST Rugby also played out a hard-fought 5-5 draw.
Daystar Falcons impressed with a 24-12 triumph over Kabarak University while the leg's reigning champions Kabras Sugar underlined their dominance with a solid 26-5 victory over Kabete Stallions.
Round Two
The second round of matches brought more excitement and drama. Menengai Oilers bounced back from their opening loss to Quins with a gritty 24-19 win over Zetech Oaks.
Quins, on the other hand, continued their good form, dismantling Mombasa RFC 38-12 in a one-sided affair.
Nondies found their rhythm in round two, securing a 26-14 win over Mwamba RFC. Nakuru RFC became the straw that broke the camel's back after stunning KCB Rugby 21-20 to pull off the biggest upsets of the round.
Strathmore Leos remained unbeaten, securing a 29-0 win over MMUST, and Blak Blad built on their solid start with a 19-10 win over CUEA Monks.
Daystar Falcons and Stallions played to a 12-12 draw in a fiercely contested match, while Kabras Sugar continued their dominant form with a resounding 38-0 win over Kabarak University.
Round Three
The final round of action saw Menengai Oilers deliver a dominant performance, thrashing Mombasa RFC 55-0 in a one-sided affair.
Nakuru RFC continued their winning streak, edging out Mwamba RFC 19-12 in a tightly contested match.
CUEA Monks bounced back to winning ways with a narrow 19-14 victory over MMUST Rugby, while Stallions Rugby earned a 14-0 win over Kabarak University.
Quins put up an impressive display, defeating Zetech University 31-17 in the closely contested affair. KCB Rugby failed to sparkle yet again, this time sharing 7-7 spoils with Nondies RFC.
Strathmore Leos’ fine form continued as they edged out Blak Blad 17-0 while Kabras RFC made it three consecutive wins after dismantling Daystar Falcons 21-7.
