Homeboyz and Oilers will now meet in the main cup final with both sides seeking their very first win of the 2022 Circuit.

For a fourth tournament running, the 2022 National Sevens Circuit will have a fourth different winner after all of the three previous champions KCB (Kabeberi), Strathmore Leos (Christie) and Mwamba (Driftwood) all failed to make it to the main cup final of the Dala 7s being played at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.

In the main cup semifinal fixtures played on Sunday afternoon, KCB and Mwamba, who made it to the last four, could not overcome their tests of the day as they went down against Menengai Oilers and Homeboyz respectively.

Christie Sevens champions Strathmore Leos already missed out on the chance of making it to the final after being knocked out in the quarter final stage by KCB.

Homeboyz were the first to cause an upset when they eliminated first seeded Mwamba in the first semifinal, condemning them to a hard fought 14-10 defeat, a result which meant that the Deejayz, led by former Kenya 7s player Oscar Ayodi, qualified for their first main cup final of the 2022 season.

In the other semi, Gibson Weru’s Menengai Oilers got the better of KCB for a second time of asking at the same stage as they picked a narrow 14-12 victory over the Bankers.

The Nakuru based said had knocked out KCB at the same stage at the Dritwood 7s tournament held in Mombasa a couple of weeks ago to qualify for their first final of the season back then.

Homeboyz and Oilers will now meet in the main cup final with both sides seeking their very first win of the 2022 Circuit.
