St Michael Kipsombe retain Uasin Gishu County Rugby 7s title

St Michael Kipsombe High School retained their hard-earned title following a 14-5 win over Chebisaas Boys in the finals played at Wareng High School on Saturday. This will be the fifth time for the sub county school to achieve such a feat.

To qualify for this stage, the Saints edged Teldet High School 26-0 while their opponents Chebisaas Boys hit Kabongo 12-5 to qualify for the finals.

According to head coach Timothy Natembeya, the fifth consecutive victory for the young boys was motivating. The former player also noted that his experience as a player also contributed to the emphatic win.

"I am happy as a coach that my boys have made me proud despite the lack of intense support compared to other giant schools. What makes my team outstanding is the fact that I was once a rugby player in high school and in university," the proud coach said smiling.

Koyonzo High School outmuscle St Peters Mumias

Kakamega County Rugby 7s defending champions Koyonzo High School outclassed their opponents St Peters Mumias 21-10 to retain their title in the finals played in Kakamega.

The champions managed three converted tries through Jackson Sireta, Darell Omondi, and Brandon Mulefu to destroy their opponents. To reach the final stage, Koyonzo had defeated Allan Kasiti's Mukumu Boys 14-7 while St Peters narrowly edged Kakamega School 7-5.

Koyonzo head coach Elly Okwemba said that his charges' thorough preparation was finally paying off, noting that their gaze was at defending the title.

"We are putting in a lot of effort in our preparation, and we are optimistic that we will defend our trophy," he noted.

Kolanya Boys carry the day in Busia

Kolanya Boys are the Busia County Rugby Sevens Champions after beating Mundika Boys 19-0 in the finals played in Busia. Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Rugby 15s winners Butula Boys fell 10-5 to Mundika in the semifinals.

Kolanya had seen off Nambale High School 15-0 to reach the final stage.
