
Chipu whitewashed by Spain in second World Rugby U20 Trophy match

This is Kenya's second loss having gone down to Samoa in the opening fixture
Kenya U20 national team Chipu went down 48-18 to Spain U20 in the Pool B World Rugby U20 Trophy match played at the Nyayo Stadium on Thursday 20.
Chipu was looking to avenge their 35-24 in loss in the hands of Former U20 champions Samoa in their first World Rugby U20 Trophy match played on Saturday 15 July at the same grounds.
The Curtis Olago-coached side was ranked third in their pool with Spain occupying thr top position. Their opponents Spain had kicked off their World U20 campaign with a resounding 53-0 victory over Hong Kong. The 2016 runners up were looking to register their second win of the event.
Eight minutes into the first half, Kenya mauled over for a deserved pack score courtesy of former captain Laban Kipsang. The conversion was successful off the boots of Faran Juma.
Spain had themselves to blame for missing two sure chances to score, but they would bounce back to add a five-pointer that was successfully converted.
Chipu responded with a try from Gaylord Ngasi, but Juma failed to convert to see the scores climb to 12-7. Despite that, the crowd went wild with the enthusiasm from the cheering squad.
Another opportunity went begging at Spain's door, and they did not hesitate to add five more points. The conversion was on point to see scores tie at 12-12.
An infringement from Spain saw them penalised to add the hosts three more points courtesy of Faran Juma. Scores 17-15. Spain leading.
Spain added a converted five-pointer in the dying minutes of the opening half to see the scores at 17-15.
The last half started on a low for the Kenyans who lost Felix Chacha due to injury. He was replaced by Alvin Mwamburi. Spain's half time talk seemed to have motivated them. They came in hot, scoring a hatrick without response from the hosts. Scores 38-15.
The Spanish men would then infringe, and Kenyans benefitted with an additional three points courtesy of Faran Juma. Scores 38-18.
Two more tries from the Spaniards put the final nail in Kenya's coffin. With the scores at 48-18 in the 76th minute, it became clear that the hosts had a long journey to better their games.
