Reigning Kenya Cup champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) have bolstered their squad even further after completing the signing of Kenya 7s ace Alvin ‘Buffa’ Otieno from opponents Homeboyz Rugby Club.
On Wednesday 10 November, the Curtis Olago coached side confirmed the player’s signature via a post on the social media platforms with the rugby transfer window currently open in the country.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let’s welcome Alvin “Buffa, Buff Daddy, Water Buff buff” Otieno to the Den. Karibu sana Buff Daddy,” the club posted.

Since debut, Buffa has played 58 matches for the men’s national rugby 7s team, Shujaa, and has scored 22 tries which totals 110 points for the Innocent Simiyu led side. He was part of the squad that won the country’s only World Sevens Series title at the Singapore7s back in 2016 and the squad that played in the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
"The journey continues in a different (uni) form," the player posted on his part.
In the shortened HSBC 2021 Series, Buffa was twice voted to the 7s Dream Team both in the Vancouver and Edmonton tournaments after his raving idiosyncratic displays.
