There is a timeless saying that goes, "There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and helping others."
This saying found its rightful dwelling on Saturday, 21 December when Kenyatta University's Blak Blad made a memorable visit to the Joy Blessed Center in Kimbo, Kiambu County.
The team spent the day engaging in fun activities, games, and meaningful interactions, leaving smiles on the faces of the young ones.
They also donated essential supplies including foodstuffs, clothing, educational materials, and sports equipment.
The gesture aimed to support the children’s immediate needs while encouraging their growth and development.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport during the visit, the team's coach Benard Rotich emphasized the importance of giving back to the community.
“As a team, we understand that rugby is more than just a sport it’s about the values of unity, kindness, and uplifting others. Today was our chance to live those values off the pitch,” he said.
Captain Kennedy Claud Nyamiro reflected on the impact of the visit noting that it was the perfect way to end the year.
“Seeing the joy on their faces reminded us of how small acts can make a big difference. It’s a humbling experience, and we’re glad to have played a part in their happiness today,” Nyamiro offered.
The visit culminated in the donation of essential supplies and a promise from Blak Blad to return for more such engagements.
“This is just the beginning. We want to build a lasting relationship with these kids and inspire them to dream big,” Nyamiro added
From storytelling sessions to spirited tag rugby matches, the players made sure every child felt included and special.
