Biko Adema headlines team squads named for Kabeberi 7s

The Kenyan international has not played active rugby for over two years

Former Shujaa ace Biko Adema is set to make a sensational return to the playing field this weekend at the season opening Kabeberi 7s set to held at the RFUEA Ground after he was listed among the 14-man squad that Nondescripts RFC named for the tournament.

The Kenyan international has not played active rugby for over two years with niggly knee and ankle injuries keeping him on the sidelines. Back in 2018, a knock in his last game for Kenya Simbas proved career threatening as it needed reconstructive surgery.

During his break from rugby, the 33-year-old took up teaching roles at Banda and Braeburn School as a Physical Education (PE) instructor as he doubled up as the director of Safe House Records which he co-owns with his brother.

The Nondies squad will have Dan Okito and Ian Mabwa serving as as co-captains for the tournament.

The Bankers, who are the defending 7s champions, have named a strong squad that sees experienced players like Jacob Ojee, Michael Wanjala, Shaban Ahmed, Isaac Njoroge, Arthur Owira and Geoffrey Okwatch picked for duty by head coach Dennis Mwanja.

Kabras Sugar RFC

The 2021/2022 Kenya Cup and 2022 Enterprise Cup champions will be hoping to continue with their purple patch this season when they return to the 2022 7s Circuit after missing in 2019.

Kenya 7s youngster Kevin Wekesa has been included in the squad alongside fomer Kenya under 20 star William Opaka. Walter Okoth who impressed with Nakuru RFC in the 2019 Circuit will also be making his first 7s appearance for the Sugarmen after being included in the squad.

The hosts and defending champions have also named a 13 man squad that will be tasked with ensuring the title remains at home.

Barely two weeks after being appointed as head coach, former Shujaa boss Paul ‘Pau’ Murunga has named his first-ever squad that will feature in the opening leg of the National 7s Circuit-Kabeberi 7s.

Anthony Odhiambo, Paul Mutsami, Anderson Oduor, Karl Siambe, Hannington Mmbaka, and Valentine Cosmas have been entrusted for the first tournament.

Frank Aduda, Mark Akide, Churchill Obat, Johnson Waiganjo, Patrick Mutuku, Samuel Maina and Oscar Oyando are in the 13-man squad set for the tournament.
