KCB Rugby tactician Andrew Amonde has heaped praise on rising lock Andycolle Omollo after the youngster claimed a hat-trick of Man-of-the-Match awards.
Omollo’s standout run began with a commanding display as KCB secured a 43–19 victory over Nakuru RFC, before he followed it up a week later with another authoritative 24–12 win against Nondies RFC.

His efforts were officially recognized on Saturday, 7 February, following KCB’s emphatic 60–7 demolition of Blak Blad in the Enterprise Cup quarter-final.
Amonde attributed the accolades to Omollo’s work ethic and commitment.
“Andycolle is a very gifted player. He puts in the shift and works extremely hard, so winning three Man-of-the-Match awards simply reflects the effort he gives. It is a reward for his commitment and hard work. He joined the team as a youngster and has since helped push the side to greater heights,” the former Kenya Sevens skipper told Mozzart Sport.
The KCB coach also highlighted the club’s evolving approach to squad building, noting that structured transition has been key to nurturing talents like Omollo.
“One thing we lacked in the past was transition, giving young players opportunities early to gain experience. Now there are clear plans for the future and for the club’s growth. We’re managing that transition by allowing senior players to continue contributing while gradually integrating the younger ones into the squad,” he continued.

His debut season with the Bankers was a memorable one, as he played a key role in the team that lifted the Impala Floodlights title.
His rapid rise continued on the international scene, with the lock earning a call-up to the senior national team, Kenya Simbas, during the Elgon Cup in November 2024.
Now firmly established as one of KCB Rugby’s key figures, Omollo is central to the club’s renewed push to finally reclaim the elusive Kenya Cup crown.
The Bankers’ next test comes on Saturday, 21 February, when they host MMUST Rugby at Ruaraka Sports Club, as momentum continues to build in their campaign.
