African Games: George Ooro to captain Team Kenya Morans

The team departs for Accra, Ghana on Wednesday

Strathmore Leos player George Ooro alias Japolo is set to lead a strong Kenya Morans team to the African Games in Accra, Ghana. The team is gearing up to compete with their African foes from March 18th to 21st at the University of Ghana.

Ooro will co-captain the side alongside Floyd Wabwire.

The squad will be under the tutelage of coach Louis Khisia who resigned from Strathmore Leos.

Five players who featured in the Challenger Series in Uruguay as Kenya 7s finished third have made the cut.

Elvis Olukusi, Chrissant Ojwang, Dennis Abukuse, and Benson Salem, who all participated in the Challenger Series, have been included in the squad.

The squad includes Mwamba’s duo Steve Sikuta and Brian Mutugi, Kabras duo Brian Mutua and William Muhanji, as well as Quins’ Cornelius Mokoro and Austin Sikutwa.

The Moran’s squad underwent intensive training at the Moi International Sports Center – Kasarani and will depart on March 13th.

In Pool A, Kenya’s Morans will face off against Ghana and Egypt, with the fourth opponent yet to be confirmed.

Uganda find themselves in Pool B, alongside Tunisia, DR Congo, and Togo, while Pool C features Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Niger.

Pool D consists of Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Libya, and Benin.
