Obilo's charges saw off Strathmore University Swords 3-0 in the best-of-five semis series to book the former champions, KPA who defeated defending champions Equity Hawks 3-1, coming from a game down to take the series.

The side is looking to overcome the Dockers and become the second varsity side to bag the coveted league title.

United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Flames are the only side to have that honour.

In addition to the league title, both Sparks and Dockers have qualified for the Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) Zone Five qualifiers set, tentatively, for October in Zanzibar where the varsity side is expected to debut.

Coach Obilo will heavily rely on the service of his top performers led by Michele Sokoudjou and Christine Akinyi who dropped 20 points each in the last match against Swords, as well as Angie Akinyi who came two points shy of a double-double in the same match after registering 14 rebounds.

Beryl Otieno, who scored a double-double of 15 points and 21 rebounds in Game Two in the varsity derby, combining with Sokoudjou who scored 28 in that match for a 76-46 victory is also expected to be crucial against Antony Ojukwu's side.

Meanwhile, the Dockers boast championship experience and have been in this position before, facing an on-form Sparks only to expose the students and lift the title.

That was before Hawks snatched the title away last season.

With talents like Ivorian Alima Doumbia, and Malian Aminata Samasekou KPA boast a mix of both youth and experience that seems like the perfect mix against an equally talented but not as experienced Sparks.

Will history be made or will KPA's dominance prevail?
