Roger Federer bids farewell
The news came as no shock but is still monumental. Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer admitted defeat in a long and painful battle against injuries and decided to call it a day at the age of 41. Federer has enjoyed an astonishing career, with 103 ATP singles titles, 20 grand slams and an Olympic silver medal. He also enjoyed a streak of 237 consecutive weeks when he was ranked the best player on the planet. His rivalry with Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Serb Novak Djokovic will remain among the most thrilling sporting stories in the world of top-class sports. The three men ruled tennis for well over a decade, pushing each other to some unbelievable achievements. Europe's strongest teams can't win
What's in common for Bayern, Juventus, Ajax, Milan, Roma, Celtic? Those are all big European clubs, expected to win titles and fight for the biggest prizes in both domestic competitions and in the Champions League. And there is another thing they've got in common - they all lost their matches last weekend. And while defeats for Celtic, Ajax and Roma can be viewed as just blips and unfortunate results, what can you say about Bayern and Juventus? Two of the best-supported clubs in the world are down on their luck. Juventus' fans are howling for coach Massimiliano Allegri to leave after they lost to Monza, the team who has never won a single Serie A game in their history. Bayern are worryingly inconsistent and in danger of falling behind in the Bundesliga, even though they were expected to stroll to their 11th consecutive title. These are strange times!

Malkia Strikers
The wait is over! After more than two months of preparations for the FIVB Women’s World Championships, Malkia Strikers jet out to Netherlands on Tuesday 20 September, from Belgrade.
The team flew to Belgrade, Serbia on 15 September, from Brazil, where they were hosted at the Kovilovo Resort, a sports facility that has over the years been the training centre for the country’s national teams.
Malkia Strikers are looking to make it to the second round of the global event which would be a first for the eleven-time African champions. The Kenyans are pitted against African champions Cameroon, hosts Netherlands, European champions Italy, Puerto Rico and Belgium.
Muhoroni Youth or Wazito? Confusion galore
Wazito FC is not new to controversy. Flashy businessman Don Rico early last week admitted to letting go off the club to a Kisumu-based engineer but word on the streets is that it is actually Muhoroni Youth chairman Moses Adagala who acquired the club with the help of some unknown businessmen. Trouble is brewing at the club already is players are now demanding to be paid salaries and allowances that have accrued for the past seven months. When you acquire a business you acquire the assets and liabilities, right? The soap opera is just beginning.
Gor Mahia problems persist
New season about to kick off, same old problems for Gor Mahia. Only a handful of players have been turning up for training sessions and the reason is as usual - go slow over accrued salaries. The team cancelled a friendly match against Police FC at the last minute and had to use players majorly drawn from its youth side in the friendly against third-tier side Marafiki on Sunday in Nyeri.
Kenyan boxers shine in Maputo
Kenyan boxers did relatively well in the recently concluded Africa Boxing Championships held in Maputo, Mozambique with three earning silver.
There have been calls to inject fresh blood into the Hit Squad by boxing die hards but the veterans proved they still have what it takes.
