His deal takes it to five professional moves for Wafalme Stars this season.
National men's volleyball team, Wafalme Stars' setter Brian Melly has landed a new professional deal with Moroccan side Club Omnisports De (COD) Meknes.
The General Service Unit (GSU) setter will play for the Moroccan side for the 2022/23 season, barely a year after turning up for Albanian side Partizan Tirana on his first professional stint.
Melly is reported to be leaving the country on Friday 25 November night, for Morocco where he will have at least two weeks of pre-season training with his new side before the league serves off.
The title-winning setter leaves his mother-club GSU barely two weeks before the start of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) 2022/23 season and his coach Gideon Tarus will have to rely on new signing Mathias Kemboi, Melly's sibling Nicholas Lagat and William Kamau.
In an interview with Nation Sport, Melly declared himself ready for the challenge ahead arguing that being his second professional deal, he knows what to expect.
"I have been in training with GSU as we followed up on this deal and I feel ready for the task ahead. I will get two weeks to train with the new squad and I hope to have gelled with them before the season begins. I am hoping to win the league with the side," offered Melly.
News of Melly's deal comes barely a day after it was reported that Malkia Strikers outside hitter Noel Murambi had joined Cyprus Division A side Lemesos Volleyball Club.
Murambi who prior to her move was attached to Kenya Pipeline penned a year-long deal becoming the third Malkia Strikers player to turn professional within a space of three months.
Melly's deal takes it to five professional deals for Wafalme Stars this season after Abiud Chirchir, Enock Mogeni, Simeon Kipkorir and Peter Kamara.
