The KBF league was entering its fourth round this weekend
University of Nairobi (UoN) Dynamites head coach Juma Kent was just getting his players to shade off the rustiness after a year of inactivity but the team's efforts have been rendered useless thanks to the suspension of sporting activities in the new presidential directive to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
Kent's charges had played two matches in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's league, picking a win, by a basket, against Kenyatta University Oryx and going down by three points to revamped Zetech University Sparks.
"The timing of this would not have been any worse. We just got our fitness back after one year of inactivity. This took us like two months and 20 days to work on but now we have been taken back to zero as we do not know how long this will last. We might be forced to begin from scratch when the league resumes," said a gutted Kent.
The government has suspended all sporting events in Kenya, this is a big blow to our Afrobasket preparations considering half of the players in the team play in the local league. pic.twitter.com/GWt18hMChq

The institution has already been closed down with students ordered to vacate by Monday, 29 March 10am with an exception the international students and those under United Nations (UN) umbrella and school of medicine final year students.
"Most of my players are from out of Nairobi and have already travelled home. This will undo so much it is just very sad. Home training never worked well for the team during the first lockdown since they are from different regions and some have logistical challenges like access to electricity, internet and for some, parents just do not allow them the time for training so it gets hard to have a training regime that works for the team," Kent further offered.

Dynamites were set to play Storms on Sunday, 28 March from noon at Nyayo Indoor Arena as they looked to pick their second win of the season. Storms were set to play Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in a Saturday match before facing Kent's charges on Sunday. KPA were already in Nairobi for the matches.
