Kenya’s Africa Region IV Championship golfers were on Tuesday 1 October flagged off for their upcoming competition by Sports Principal Secretary (PS) Eng. Peter Tum in Nairobi.
The team of four, plus officials, are set to depart to Rwanda, where they will compete against fellow East African nations Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Seychelles, and the hosts at the Kigali Golf Resort and Villas.

The championship takes place from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 October.
Leading the team will be Michael Karanga, who will be joined by the trio of John Lejirma, Elvis Muigua and Adel Balala.
Accompanying them will be KGU Vice Chairman and Tournaments Director Mr. Chris Kinuthia for the championship many believe will mark a significant opportunity for the team to showcase their skills on a continental stage.
During the flagging-off, PS Tum emphasized the importance of establishing a golf development pathway to encourage continuity in the sport.
He also expressed his commitment to discussing potential funding for a professional league with the Federation, highlighting the need for current talented amateurs to have clear progression in their careers.
Another major development from the meeting came from Chairman of Kenya Golf Federation Philip Ochola, who stated that Kenya was keen on hosting the Africa Golf Confederation offices in the country.
"This would not only bolster our local golfing community but also position Kenya as a leading hub for golf development in the region," he said.
