Kenya Women's Beach Volleyball team was making it's maiden appearance at the Olympics Games
Kenya Women's Beach Volleyball team started their Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games campaign on the losing end, going down by two straight sets in the hands of Brazil in their opening Pool D fixture.
Kenya's pair of Gaudencia Makokha and Brackcides Khandambi put a spirited fight throughout the match but the experienced pair of Brazil’s Rebecca Cavalcanti and Ana Patricia Silva Ramos proved too much for the Kenyan team.
In the first set, the two teams went toe to toe in the opening stages with Agala quick to cancel Rebecca's opening point for Brazil within no time.

That showed promise for the Kenyan team, making their first appearance at the Olympics Games, the maiden one for the country as well.
The Kenyans even took a 4-3 lead at some point, with Makokha's serve being too hot to handle for the Brazillian pair but they could not hold onto the lead for long and there was no more catching up for the Kenyan team as Brazil went on to win the first set 21-15 in just 18 minutes.
In the second set, Brazil took over from where they had left in the first one, taking the lead from start to end, winning 21-9.
Kenya will however go into the next game aware of the threat they have in attack as they were better in attacking than the Brazilians, making 37 attack-in plays compared to Brazil's 33, but will want to work slightly on their defensive aspect of it.
