Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander combined for 71 points in Oklahoma's Game 5 triumph over Indiana, bringing the OKC within a step of championship glory

Meticulous statisticians have counted that 82% of teams that win Game 5 in the NBA Playoffs - when the series is tied 2-2 - win the whole series. If we apply that to the NBA Finals between Oklahoma and Indiana, the Thunder will become the new Champions, as Mark Daigneault's crew crushed the Pacers in the fifth match of the Finals - 120-109!

Things went south for Indiana from the beginning, as Oklahoma quickly gained a double-digit lead while the visitors' best player, Tyrese Haliburton, suffered a calf injury.

At the break, Oklahoma were 14 points up, while Pascal Siakam kept the Pacers' head above water. At one point during the final quarter, Rick Carlisle's men reduced the gap to only four points, but they didn't have the strength, focus, and quality to make a complete comeback.

Indiana did have five double-digit players, but apart from Siakam, who ended the game with 28 points, their key players, such as Haliburton and Andrew Nembhard, fell short.

On the other hand, Oklahoma's Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander combined for 71 points (40+31) and were absolutely unstoppable.

Now, the Pacers can only hope that Haliburton's injury is not too severe and that he'll be ready for Game 6 (Friday, 03.30). With or without the popular Hali, Indiana will have to defend their home court, win the game, and schedule the decisive Game 7 in Oklahoma City.

Otherwise, the Thunder will celebrate their maiden NBA title in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
