Supermarlins win second overall title this year after dominating Kiambu Minnows Swimming Championships

The team, on the way to the title, also scooped multiple 100 SC Meter Medley Relay titles in the mixed events

Supermarlins Swim Club, over the weekend, dominated events at the Kiambu Aquatics Minnows Swimming Championships after emerging top in both the boys' and girls team categories.

The Nairobi swim club, which also won the Kiambu County Aquatics Association Level One Swimming Championships held late last month, scored 246 and 326 points in the respective gender categories, breezing away with the team title(s).

Potterhouse School finished second in the standings with 121 and 117 points, while Nova Sharks came third (87) in the boys' category, Water Warriors Swimming Club wrapped up the podium places for the girls’ section with 112 points.

“I acknowledge the efforts and collaboration of aquatics stakeholders in pushing the boundaries of swimming talent to new heights,” Christine Kathurima, Principal of Nova Pioneer Tatu City Primary said after the event that drew over 200 swimmers from 14 teams across the Kiambu region.

“The transformative leadership of Kiambu Aquatics in holding such events also highlights the importance of partnerships between educational institutions and sports associations in nurturing talent from the grassroots to international levels,” she added.

Among the teams that participated in the event include: Genesis Sports Limited, The Harpoons, Kuraiha Primary School, Premier Swim Club, Sailfish Swimming Club, Otters, Braeburn School and Woodcreek.

Mwiti Kinya and Ismael Imara of Supermarlins reigned supreme in the 5 and Under Individual categories, with Kendi Mwiti and Kriss Mwangi emerging tops in the 8-9 years categories.

Supermarlins, on their way to the title, also scooped multiple 100 SC Meter Medley Relay titles in the mixed events, even as they get ready for the upcoming Mt. Kenya Aquatics Invitational Swimming Championship at Nyahururu Elite School.

The annual event will take place concurrently with the Machakos Aquatics Invitational Swimming Championship set for St. Bakhita School Sabaki on Saturday 9 March.
