The men's league returns next weekend.

Kimilili-based Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women's side Rangers HC seems to have made good use of the league break as they posted impressive results on the weekend.

As the league returned after a break in December 2022 and January 2023, the side played four matches, winning three and drawing in one, a result that moves them to 23 points

On Saturday, the Musa Munyasia-led side managed to beat Amazon 41-26 in a match that the latter's Valin Akoth top scored with 15 points but her contribution alone was not enough to stop a well-oiled Rangers side.

Martha Lavendah emerged top scorer for the winning side with ten goals as Naomi Muyoka and Peris Murumba contributed seven each for the win.

In the second match of Saturday, fans at the Nyayo handball court were entertained to a thriller as Rangers took on Kenyatta University, a match than ended in a 35-all draw.

Lavendah, for a second time stared for Rangers scoring 14 while Doris Odende managed double figures with 11 for the varsity side.

The half-time score was 18-14 with Rangers holding the slight advantage. The second half was, however, closely contested with the varsity side cutting the deficit to two and further down to one before equalling and holding to pick the crucial point.

Munyasia's charges returned for dah two of action determined to pick all available points and fought hard for a 32-28 win over Net Navigators.

Lavendah and Muyoka were the go-to players again, scoring nine and eight respectively in the victory while Sharon Akoth made eight for the opponent in the loss.

Not even the scorching sun could stop Rangers in their last match of the weekend as they easily dispensed Nairobi City County (NCC) 41-19, the usual suspects Muyoka and Lavendah emerging top scorers with 13 and 12 respectively.
