The addition of South Africa, a traditional powerhouse in African swimming, is expected to raise the stakes in the pool and add a new layer of excitement to a championship already promising fierce competition.
Heize Kahindo, Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee and Executive Committee Member for Kenya Aquatics, described South Africa’s participation as a game-changer.
“We are delighted to welcome South Africa. Their swimmers will push the level of competition even higher and inspire others to achieve their personal bests,” Kahindo said, adding that the even organizers had gone as far as courting other nations among them: Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, and Namibia.
"Their involvement will make this the most competitive championship in our history,” he said.
This year’s edition will be the 10th since the championship’s inception, and organizers say it could be the largest and most successful yet.
Nairobi is preparing to host Africa’s swimming fraternity, with expectations that Africa Aquatics President Dr. Mohammed Diop and other international dignitaries will be in attendance.
Kenya’s Ministry of Sports is working closely with the Local Organizing Committee to ensure smooth operations, drawing from recent experience hosting continental tournaments such as CHAN 2025.
Meanwhile, the organizers are calling on corporates, private partners, and individuals of goodwill to come on board through sponsorships.
"The event offers a unique platform for marketing, brand visibility, and contributing to the growth of African sport," Kahindo said. "Sports is a multi-billion-dollar industry with power to change lives, and this championship is more than a competition — it is a chance to inspire a generation, engage vulnerable youth, and boost our economy.”
