Local golfers were initially allocated eight slots in 2021 but the number was increased to 13 as six amateur golfers also took part in the two international events held at Karen Country Club.

Kenya Open Golf Limited’s (KOGL) Safari Tour, the qualifying tournament for the Magical Kenya Open and the newly introduced Savannah Classic golf event is set to tee off on 25 to 29 September at Sigona Golf Club.

Local and regional golfers use the Tour to qualify for the European Tour events. Kenya Open was elevated to the highest level of the European Tour in 2019 while Savannah Classic was introduced in 2021 as part of the global body’s efforts to reduce travel for golfers due to covid-19 restrictions.

The Safari Tour, set to be launched on 17 September, will see Vetlab host the second leg on 2 to 6 October before action moves to Naivasha at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort.

Nyali and Leisure Lodge host back-to-back legs on 16 to 20 October and 23 to 27 of the same month before the golfers can return to Nairobi for action in Limuru, Karen and Muthaiga in January and February 2022.
