The handball league is in its second weekend of resumption, with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocol denying fans a chance to watch their favourite sport that has since returned to Nyayo from Kaloleni grounds where the league was held for the last three seasons.
Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women's league will witness one fixture on Sunday, 4 July, as new entrants Amazon, a Thika military barracks based team take on Rangers Women.
The two sides are making their debut in the national league this season and while Amazon are playing their first match of the season, Rangers had a chance to test waters on Saturday, 3 July, going down 30-27 against Kenyatta University (K.U).
Rangers' head coach Gerald Juma attributes the women's team loss to inexperience but believes it was a good learning platform.
"Honestly, I cannot say we have a strategy to win as we have not seen this team in action and we do not even know the players they are fielding. We will just stick to our style of play and take it one step at a time as we chase that first win. My players are still very young and inexperienced so we are not putting them under a lot of pressure to churn our positive results. Ours is a learning process," said Juma.
The tactician is set to have a tough morning as his men's team are set to face Amazon's brother team, Thika, a side that has used the Covid-19 occasioned break to strengthen their squad.

"If we were playing the Thika of 2019 then that would have been a different story, they have a different squad now and I watched them win their Saturday match against Tigers and from the way they played , it will be a tricky game. We will stick to our game and see how it goes," added Juma.
Meawhile, another military side, Kahawa goes on the hunt for a first win in four matches when they take on struggling Generation who are yet to register a win as well. Kahawa fell to Thika and Black Mamba last weekend while Strathmore University added to their misery with a 36-19 defeat on Saturday. Going by the scorelines in the loses against their seasoned opponents, Kahawa have the upper hand in the clash against Generation.
Strathmore face Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) while former champions National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) face off with revamped Buccaneers. Another University derby will see K.U take on Technical University of Kenya (TUK).
