Lakers whipped Kenyatta University in a women's Premier League tie
The highlight match of the weekend in the Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League pitting champions Butali Warriors against Kenya Police has been postponed to later date.
The game was supposed to have been played at City Park starting 6pm East African Time but the league mangers had to suspend it after the City Park Stadium became unplayable due to the showers witnessed in Nairobi.
According to the Union’s fixtures deputy match fixtures secretary Moses Majiwa, the two heavyweights will clash in a later date.
Information on the verified Butali Warriors social media pages also confirmed the same.
Earlier before the rains, Sikh Union beat Wazalendo 3-2 at the Dashmesh Stadium.
Sikh had Yuvraj Walmiki to thank as his three goals were enough to get the side maximum points.
Wazalendo scored through Griffin Okombe and Sutcliffe Usagi.
Meanwhile, last season’s second runner up in the women’s top tier league served Kenyatta University bitter hockey lessons after thrashing the students 6-1 at City Park before the heavens opened up.
The Kisumu based club went ahead in the 13th minute after Alice Aoko sounded the board in a well worked field goal.
Ruth Netia doubled the advantage for Lakers in the 25th minute in yet another field goal.
Aoko, sealed her brace after successfully converting from a short corner in the 33rd minute as Lakers continued to dominate over the students.
Lakers secured the fourth goal in the 37th minute through Auralia Atieno with Aoko punishing Kenyatta for the third time after scoring the fifth goal for the visitors in the 43rd minute.
Debra Achieng put the icing on the Lakers cake in the 47th minute.
Monica Kitui gave the university side something to smile about after hitting the board three minutes to the final whistle.
