Ahoya and Kawira were knocked out of the doubles in the quarter finals
Two of the Kenyan youngsters significantly active in the Africa Junior Tennis Championships in Togo were on Saturday knocked out from the main draw, leaving the whole group of five to take part in the tournament classification or placement matches.
East African doubles champions Nancy Kawira and Seline Ahoya suffered straight sets losses to Lina Bezza and Wassila Achouri - both from Morocco - respectively and will now be in the same bracket gunning for a top 10 finish in the tournament.
In the first match for the Kenyans in the girls singles, Ahoya will face Naomie Marete of Benin before Kawira takes on Roxy Bredenkamp of South Africa.
The two opponents also lost in the second round matches to Nour Sahnoun and Attig Sara of Tunisia.
In the doubles, the impressive duo agonizingly missed from a semifinals slot after forcing a tie break in the last set, losing at the end to the Tunisian pair of Nadine Hamrouni and Rined Saafi 6-4, 6-0, 10-4.
The boys’ singles category wasn't positive either for the Kenyan group of Jeff Hesbon and Ayush Bhandari as they took a setback in their respective classification matches - losing to Miki Igiraneza (Burundi) and David Edwards (Nigeria) to set them up for a lower finish in the tournament.
Bhandari will now take on Abdoul Karim Coulibaly (Mali) in the position 25-26 matchup while Hesbon will face Kidiya Prince Daniel (Togo) in the same draw.
Michelle Murage on the other hand will be the lowest placed Kenyan in the girl’s singles category after losing to Bernice Tossoukpe (Togo) in the first round of placement matches. She will now play her East African mate Claire Nalubuulwa (Uganda) in the position 25-26 match-up.
