Pipeline Libero happy to be back from injury

Kenya Pipeline Women's Volleyball Club has welcomed back star libero Aggripina Kundu Ahead of Paul Bitok Tournament this weekend

Kenya Pipeline women volleyball club have been boosted by the return of libero Aggripina Kundu.

Kundu who was suffering from a groin injury is available for selection ahead of this weekend’s Paul Bitok tournament.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Kundu said she is proud of her replacement Betty Sifuna and Celestine Nyongesa who held brief for her while she was recovering.

“They played very well and I feel happy that such young liberos can come up and fill the void left when I was not available. It gives me the confidence to know that that position will always be covered well when iam not fit,” she told the club's media.

Kundu is also happy with her recovery ahead of this weekend’s action saying she expects a tough outing in the two day tournament.

“I have recovered well and the timing could not have been better. I have to motivate myself to be ready to play considering that we are going to face very tough teams. The injury could not have come at a worse time. I am happy that the coach gave me enough time to rest. This has made a huge difference and therefore, I hope to play well because iam feeling well,” she added.

The Paul Bitok tournament serves off today and has attracted 12 women’s teams and nine women teams.

Each of the four pools for the men category have three teams that will compete in the round-robin first. The top two teams will then move to the quarters with pool ‘A’ teams meeting pool ‘D’ teams. The top place team plays second finisher plays the other teams.

Quarter-final matches will be played on Saturday afternoon. The final will be played on Sunday at Kasarani for both categories.
