The older sister is expected to travel in January 2023 after sorting her travelling papers.
Angella Okutoyi’s twin, Roselida Asumwa has followed swiftly in her sister’s path as she has received a university scholarship to the United States of America where she is set to join the Cowley College in Arkansas City in Kansas starting from January 2023, Mozzart Sport can confirm.
Asumwa had been left with the real possibility of remaining in the country and separating from her sister, who had received a full scholarship to join Auburn University back in October this year, but a last ditch intervention has ensured that Asumwa, who is the older of the two siblings, will also be making her way abroad.

“We only got the news yesterday (Monday) because we have been fighting for her not to be left behind. Initially, she was supposed to do an exam before going but surprisingly, the coach from Cowley texted informing us that she had gotten the slot and needed not to do the exam anymore.
So all that is left is getting the requisite papers and she will be good to go,” Allan Atola, the uncle who introduced the two girls to tennis told Mozzart Sport.
In the offer, Asumwa will receive a 70% scholarship deal that will cater for her tuition fees, books, tennis equipment and insurance in the USA and the offer will be upgraded to full scholarship if she makes it to the team’s top four spots.
“For now, we will pay for the meals and her accommodation in USA but once she makes the school’s top four, the scholarship will be upgraded to a full time deal,” Atola added.
The two girls are off a successful Rwanda Open 2022 tournament where they faced off against each other in the women’s singles with Okutoyi getting the family bragging rights with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Asumwa.
The two however formed a winning pair in the Doubles where they lifted the title together when they defeated Shana Martin Mao (Tanzania) & Ester Mohamed Nankulange 6-1, 6-0.
