The law enforcers, who finished in 12th place last season are now seventh on the log.

Administration Police (AP) men’s volleyball skipper Julius Njuguna has rallied his charges to fight for a place in this season’s Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men’s playoffs.

Njuguna has urged the team to leverage on their good outing in the second leg of the season where they won all their three matches against some formidable opposition and build on that momentum going forward.

It is a huge task, but the skipper believes they have what it takes to fight to finish in the top four at the conclusion of the regular season.

“Our training was good coming into the second leg. In Mosoriot, we struggled with the weather and had not prepared well to face Prisons. The wins are a good morale booster as we look to qualify for the playoffs,” Njuguna offered.

AP opened their season with a loss against former champions Prisons Kenya in the first leg but had a perfect run at Nyayo winning all their three matches against Trailblazers (3-1), Prisons Rift Valley (3-2) and Kenya Forest Service (3-2) for seven points.

“The technical bench has been very instrumental in the turnaround as they have worked on the confidence of the team, especially the young players who have been a big part of our performance in the second leg.

We will build on this momentum going forward. We will need to play some friendly matches to gain the exposure needed for the youngsters and we believe the management will support us on that.

We know it will be a tough task because of how competitive the league is but we will give our all now that we have the opportunity. We have 11 more matches to play and that calls for good preparation and maximum focus," the skipper added.

The law enforcers, who finished in 12th place last season are now seventh on the log. They are tied with Prisons Rift Valley on points.

Holders General Service Unit (GSU) headline the standings after the second leg, having won all their three matches in straight-sets for maximum points.

Kenya Army are in second place on nine points from four matches, having won three, one in straight-sets and the other two in a 3-1 score line.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Prisons Kenya and Prisons Nairobi complete the top five places. The top four teams are tied on nine points with the finish placed team a point behind.
