Kenya Open Golf Limited is yet to confirm whether Kenya will host back-to-back European Tour events like it was the case on 2021.

Railways' resident professional golfer Samuel Njoroge is in Lagos Nigeria where he is hoping to repeat his 2018 feat where he won the Lagos Golf Open as an amateur.

Njoroge, fresh from taking part in the KRA Golf Open is set to take part in the West African country's Open that tees off on 18 November as part of his preparations for next year's Magical Kenya Open.

"I have won here before so it is a course I know well. In 2018 I carded three-round level par and my target is to play well in the three rounds and hopefully repeat my feat. This is the first time I am back here since 2018 so it feels special," said Njoroge.

The golfer who turned pro in 2020, a week before the Safari Tour series to qualify for the 2021 Magical Kenya Open began went on to be the only Kenyan to make cut at this year's Open.

He finished 77th after carding four rounds of 72, 68, 74 and 70 in the event won by South Africa's Justin Harding in an impressive 21 under-par 263.

In the 2021/22 qualifying tournament, Njoroge is currently ninth on the log at 110.2 points after four legs. At the series-opening Sigona leg, Njoroge finished fourth with a three under-par 285 score for 45 points.

He missed out on points at VetLab, the second leg after carding two rounds of 74 and 79 to miss cut. He also missed cut at the fourth leg played at Nyali after carding 75 and 78 in the first two rounds.

He, however, managed 48 points in the third leg at Great Rift Valley Golf Resort with a second-place finish behind David Wakhu.

"I am preparing for the Uganda Open set for 2 December. Playing in high-level events is also geared at helping me get better ahead of the European Tour event as I looking to give the pros that visit our country a run for their money," added Njoroge.
