
NBA league off to a good start

Action continues on the weekend at Strathmore.
Nairobi Basketball League (NBA) threw off this weekend at the Strathmore University grounds where teams locked horns in search of points as the journey to the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) leagues begin.
The biggest winners of the weekend were undoubtedly Don Bosco and Moischers in the men's league and Safe Spaces for the women as they registered over 100 points.
Don Bosco beat Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University (109-36) while Moischers saw off Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 103-64. Safe Spaces had an easy time against Soweto Academy winning 110-18.
Moischers' Jeff Onyango, picked from where he left last season, having picked top scorer gong, to score 31 in a 79-69 win over Kivuli, Wycliffe Rayasi also posted 30 in that win. Onyango also posted 33 in the triumph over TUK.
Don Bosco’s quartet of Brian Owino (18), Methusela Amtany (16), Duncan Mochama (13) and Henry Lucy (12) were the first teammates to all post double figures in one game.
Meanwhile, Patrick Kirui buried a last gasp three-pointer to deny debutants Makueni Flamers a chance to send Legacy to the first overtime of the season ad the latter won 61-58 in a close game.
The visitors from Makueni also lost 81-61 to Zetech University. Maj Deng 23 and Bob Opondo 19 while Pelu dropped 31 and Mark Muoki added 12.
Another debutant Citam Karen stunned Old Pirates 63-55 as Yaba James tallied 17 and Trevor Opiyo 14. Old Pirates' Reynald Alila and Daniel Ndegwa put 13 and 12 respectively.
Ian Wachiye managed 14 points in his return to the league and Irungu Maina chipped in with 13 as Allstars clubbed Parklands Baptist 60-46. Emmanuel Wafula collected 10.
TUK also felled CUEA 63-49. James Mureithi (18) Ian Mwangi (13) and Suleiman Mwachizi (11) for the winners while Elton Minene shot 14 for the losers.
Clique Mambas continued to spit venom spiking Vikings 63-59. Alex Makau nailed 22, Duke Mirura 16 and William Oditi 10 for Mambas.
In the women's league, Soweto Academy suffered the biggest loss at 110-18 loss to Safe Spaces. Vivian Wade sunk 32 and Zulea Mughoi 20 for Safe Spaces.
Towering Abuna Chol registered 14 points and swatted a couple of shots to lift DreamGirls to a 44-26 triumph over Gladiators who were pepped by veteran Emilly Ongoro who managed 10.
