Beating the Celtics, the Knicks clinched the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time after 25 years and just like in 2000, their rivals will be the Indiana Pacers, so vengeance will be at stake
The series against New York hadn't started well for Boston, the reigning NBA Champion. Once Jayson Tatum had suffered a severe Achilles tendon injury, the Knicks' eventual triumph could have been hinted at. Truth be told, even without their best player, Joe Mazzulla's men managed to bounce back and secure Game 6, but they couldn't do more than that.
Last night in Madison Square Garden, New York demolished the Celtics 119-81 and scheduled the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers. The last time the Knicks reached this stage of the competition was 25 years ago, and the rivals in the finals were the same.
Moreover, the Pacers knocked New York down in the Conference semis last season after seven games, so vengeance will definitely be at stake.
Last night, Boston's poor second quarter cost them dearly. They were trailing 27 points at the break, and the celebration in the streets of New York could have already begun. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 20 points, but he was the only one noteworthy on the home team.

On the other hand, the Knicks had as many as six double-digit players, with OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson being the most efficient with 23 points apiece. Josh Hart deserved an "honourable mention," noting a triple-double (ten points, 11 rebounds, and as many assists).
