He was about to face Nick Kyrgios in tomorrow's semifinal, but the abdominal injury has taken its toll

Rafael Nadal will withdraw from Wimbledon with injury, it's officialy confirmed on Thursday night!

Spanish media reported Nadal had suffered a seven-millimetre tear to his abdominal muscle and the Spaniard has decided not to continue.

"I made the decision because I think I can't win matches that way. It's not that I can't serve well. It's also that I can't do the normal movement to serve," Nadal explained on a press conference on Thursday night in London.

He also said that the injury could only get worse...

"That's why I made the decision because I couldn't win any match like that.

"I can't risk even more and spend 2-3 months off the track. It is something very hard for me, and this is my decision. I have to live with it. I'm very sad, I can't say anything else."

Nadal has confirmed that he went against the wishes of his father and refused to retire injured during his epic five-set Wimbledon quarter-final victory over Taylor Fritz.

Nadal's dad was caught on camera mid-match, appearing to tell his son to quit. And Rafa revealed: "They told me I need to retire the match, yeah.

"Well, I tried. For me, it is tough to retire in the middle of the match. It is not easy even if I had that idea for such a long time."

Semi-final opponent Nick Kyrgios will receive a walkover into Sunday's final, where he will play either top seed and six-time champion Novak Djokovic or Britain's Cameron Norrie.
