Defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) had to fight tooth and nail to bag two points in a five-set thriller against siblings Administration Police
Straight from their CAVB Club Championships in Tunisia, Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) side Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) took on Trailblazers, going down in a 3-2 thriller played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.
The match saw KPA come from two sets down 20-25, 19-25 to win the third and fourth sets 25-13, 25-22 to force a decider set.
Geoffrey Omondi's charges, however, recovered from the slump in form to win the set 15-12 and pick two crucial points in the race for a playoff slot.
The loss puts the dockers in a tight spot in the quest for a playoff slot, with six matches left, as they have accumulated 15 points in nine matches and find themselves in eighth place.
"I solely blame the federation and more so the fixtures department for this outcome. It beats logic that a team travels from club championships and the same week we have to feature in the league.
The fixtures secretary was setting us up for failure with such an arrangement and I do not understand what they stand to gain with this," a visibly annoyed Sammy Mulinge offered after the match.
"We have a problem of losing the third set and I am yet to find out why we are complacent at such a crucial time. It is something we have to work on.I expected better results today. We are not where we should be or we want to be but are working on that," offered coach Omondi.
Meanwhile, defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) had to fight tooth and nail to bag two points in a five-set thriller against siblings Administration Police.
