
Mombasa readying for third beach volleyball leg

The first and second legs of the homologated tour were hosted by Homabay and Makueni counties respectively.
Registration of teams for the third leg of the 2021/2022 Homologated National Beach Volleyball Tour is ongoing with players out to earn points and go up the FIVB ranking.
The two-day event set to take place in Mombasa on 26 and 27 February at New Big Tree. The men's league has so far attracted five teams with more expected before the deadline.
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) through their invitation letter to league teams has urged them at register at least three teams per gender.
"Teams are required to register with KVF secretariat or beach volleyball commission before Thursday 24 February by 1800hrs to enable drawing of lots to be conducted. This is a FIVB homologated tour hence the players are supposed to be registered in BVIS and fully completed anti-doping online program," read the letter in part.
Naomi Too, the All Africa Games (2019) beach volleyball silver medalist made a comeback to beach volleyball with a bang as she partnered budding attacker Veronica Adhiambo to clinch the women's title in the second leg held in Makueni.
The men's category title went to the Tanzanian duo of David Neeke and Juliard Mbappe who came from a set down to beat the duo of Elphas Makuto and Jairus Kipkosgei.
According to the organisers, a technical briefing will be held on Saturday 26 Feb 2022 at 8:30 am, prior to the serve off at 9 am.
Teams will be awarded points according to their ranking which shall be added in other subsequent beach volleyball tours to determine the overall ranking of 2021/2022 season.
