Mills addresses two Morans weaknesses ahead of Afrobasket qualifiers

New Morans coach Liz Mills has lauded the response of the players to her tactics as she tightened two areas of concerns ahead of the Afrobasket qualifiers.

Mills was appointed at the back end of January to bolster the Morans bench though it is still not clear if she has been installed as the head coach of the side.

Having watched and analysed the clips from the three games of the first window qualifiers back in Kigali, Mills is hoping the side can put on an improved performance in the coming games.

“They have adapted, picked up the new drills and new plays that we have put in, we have drastically improved in the ability to execute on offence and defence.

“They were areas of concern having seen them play in Rwanda in the first window of the Afrobasket qualifiers,” said Mills.

Morans need at least win in the three upcoming games to secure a place in the Afrobasket Championship for the first time in 28 years with the last time being in 1993.

Kenya sit third in Group B having lost to Senegal and Angola but beat Mozambique to hand themselves a shot in the arm in their bid for qualification.

Morans' captain Eric Mutoro is hoping Kenya can adapt to the changes in international basketball and sent a message to Kenyans on what to expect in the upcoming games.

“We believe that the way things are changing at the international stage our play is also changing to adapt to the high standards.

“Kenyans should set their expectations high because we were meeting those teams for the first time but with Mills, we have rectified our problems through watching the games again,” noted Mutoro.

Kenya takes on Senegal on Friday 19 February, meet Angola a day later and tackle Mozambique in their last Group B fixture.
