Already 10 institutions have confirmed their participation in the one-day event
Meru County is set to open up the Kenya Aquatics calendar year by hosting its first-ever Invitational Championship scheduled for 25 January.
In a bid to expand the sports landscape across the country, Kenya Aquatics has settled on Meru for the now sanctioned event, which is expected to draw a mixture of young talent and seasoned swimmers from the Mt. Kenya region and beyond.
With results set to be included in the national database, the championship will also take its place as a recognized qualifying event for the Kenya National Swimming Championship scheduled for 15-16 February at the Kasarani Aquatic Arena.
Among swimming institutions that have already confirmed their participation in the one-day championships include: Nyeri Good Shepherd, Golden Dolphins, Genesis Swimming Club, Kerugoya Academy, St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki, Ripples International School, Mt. Kenya Academy, Millbrook International School, Brickwood Schools and Nyeri Seals.
As per Genesis Sports Limited, top Kenyan official Collins Marigiri - also a Worlds Aquatics-certified referee - will grace the event to “ensure the gala adheres to global standards.”
And so after gaining its status as a member via the Sports Registrar, a new dawn awaits Meru this year.
