Hussein Malik has reported positive steps from his pre-event test aboard a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X ahead of Saturday's 18 September gravel event in the KCB Ramisi Rally.

The Nairobi based driver is confident he can post good results in the season's first sea level event. Malik was hoping to drive his uncle's Subaru Impreza but changed his mind after the initial test.

Malik says he dedicated last weekend to get more seat-time and competitive mileage with the Evolution 10 after realizing that uncle Moez Malik's Subaru needed more time to fine-tune.

“It’s always nice to drive at such a different event and on iconic stages familiar to cars. It was a great weekend as we worked closely with the mechanics to find some good settings for the coast gravel. It’s always a good feeling knowing that to have more time in the car, especially in competitive mode as we had.”

Scrutineering and reconnaissance took place at the race venue at Kwale International Sugar Company Limited (KISCOL)where the service park and rally headquarters are situated.

The event will count towards the sixth round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championship.

Carl "Flash" Tundo currently tops the Kenya National Rally Championship log with 111 points ahead of Karan Patel and Baldev Chager.
