The previous night in the NBA league was pretty interesting given that as many as eleven games were played. Still, they did not spring many team surprises as individual ones. First and foremost, LeBron James put in his worst performance since January, scoring only 11 points for his Los Angeles Lakers in a 109-105 defeat against the Phoenix Suns. Interestingly, nine months ago he scored ten points against the same rival.

Paolo Banchero led Orlando to the victory over Indiana 119-115 at home in a career-night 50-point display. Miami Heat brushed aside struggling Detroit Pistons at home 106-98, while Dallas Mavericks smashed still winless Utah Jazz 110-102. Washington Wizards stunned Hawks in Atlanta 121-119 for their first season victory.

Current champions, Boston Celtics, beat Milwaukee at home 119-108, even though the Bucks duo of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo combined for 63 points. The 2023 champions, Denver Nuggets, finally noted the first triumph of the season, edging Toronto in Canada 127-125 only after extra time, behind the MVP Nikola Jokic's second consecutive 40-point game.

Portland fell short in Sacramento against the Kings 111-98, as well as the New York Knicks in their Madison Square Garden to Cleveland Cavaliers 110-104 in a derby clash of the night. Chicago Bulls snatched a hard-won victory in Memphis, beating the Grizzlies 126-123 with as many as six double-digit players. Finally, the Houston Rockets triumphed against the Spurs in San Antonio 106-101 in the Texas derby.
