
Magical Kenya Open tees off at Muthaiga

European Tour's Magical Kenya Open golf tournament is back at Muthaiga Golf Club where it was born 55 years ago.
The tournament officially tees off on Thursday 3 March, with the Pro-Am event, a curtain-raiser having been played on Wednesday at the same venue, giving the golfers an opportunity to test the challenging par 71 course.

Ten Kenya professional golfers and six amateurs take to the course in a quest to make cut after two rounds of golf and enter the money bracket.
The tournament purse for the 2022 Kenya Open is €1.75million (Ksh 221,306,561). This is a significant increase from last year's €1million. As a result, the winner will claim €291,660 (Ksh 36,883,583) up from last year's €145,500( Ksh 18 million) first prize. The runner-up will win more than last year's winner at €194,440 (Over Ksh 24 million).

The Magical Kenya Open has a history dating back to 1967 and appeared on the European Tour’s schedule for the first time in 2019, having previously taken place on the Challenge Tour schedule since 1991.
The Open is also coming back to its original home for the first time since 2018. This year’s Pro-Am attracted a field of 205 players including 52 pros who were partnered with three amateurs.
Defending champion Justin Harding from South Africa is among the leading professionals that will contesting for this year’s tittle.
Muthaiga Golf Course has been well prepared for this year’s Open and is in great condition and ready for the main event on Thursday where a field of 144 will be battling it out.
With live global broadcast coverage across four days, the Magical Kenya Open is a great opportunity to promote Kenya as a golf destination to the world and support Kenyan golf.
The event will be produced for live TV coverage across four days with the world feed being distributed all over the world.
