Okot, 21, was once again involved off the bench for the Dream, playing only five minutes in her team’s 82-75 victory.

The Kenyan, who has yet to crack into the Dream starting five, grabbed two rebounds during her time on the floor, but committed two turnovers, while missing her one field-goal attempt.

Her cameo did, however, ensure her run in the WNBA continued, as she is yet to miss a single game, having featured in all 11 of Dream’s game this season.

On what was a historic night for the visitors, Okot’s close teammate Angel Reese had a dream return to her old stomping ground, scoring 17 points and grabbing 17 rebounds for the second consecutive game, to lead the team to its second consecutive win.

The WNBA superstar, who last month described Okot as “my little sister”, hit five of her 12 shots, grabbed five offensive rebounds, and made it her fourth consecutive game with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The leading light for the 8-3 Dream on the night was to be forward Rhyne Howard, who made WNBA history by eclipsing 2,500 career points, to become the youngest player in WNBA history to record 2,500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks.

The 26-year-old was the joint-leader in points with 17, to go with five assists and three total rebounds.

Overall, The Dream overcame a poor night shooting 3-pointers (19.2%) by outrebounding Chicago 36-25, and turning 12 offensive rebounds into 17 second chance points.

“They shot better than us, so we had to win possessions,” Dream Head Coach Karl Smesko said post-game. “That’s how we did it today. There were so many people contributing to it. When we got to the point that we had to make plays, everybody on the team stepped up and made plays.”

The win improved Dream’s record in the Commissioner’s Cup to 3-1, with their next game coming on Friday, 12 June against the New York Liberty at home.
