The matches will revert to Kisumu Simba Club after the Diwali celebrations.

Lakers Hockey Club have stepped up preparations ahead of their last two matches of the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Women's Premier League this coming weekend.

The coach Austin Tuju's charges will face multiple Kenyan champions Blazers in their first weekend outing on Saturday, November 19 at 1400 hrs, before taking on Wolverines the following day at 1000 hrs.

The matches will revert to Kisumu Simba Club after the Diwali celebrations.

Lakers held the Blazers, formerly Telkom Kenya, away in the first leg, and will be gunning for maximum points in the return match. Meanwhile, the Kisumu-based side will be going for a double over Wolverines whom they edged out 1-0 in the first part of the league.

Ahead of the fixtures, Lakers trained at Nyamira Girls High School in Bondo, Siaya County over the weekend.

"We wanted a change of environment for maximum concentration, we were also mentoring the Nyamira girls, it was basically a way of us giving back to the community that has continued to support our journey," Lakers Team Manager John Paul Otieno told Mozzart Sport.

With the league title out of their reach, Lakers, who finished fourth in their maiden Premier League appearance last season, are looking to cement the number two position they currently occupy.

"This is our aim, and to achieve it we intend to win all our weekend fixtures, Blazers are breathing on our necks, but a win over them will take us a step towards our destination," Otieno added.

Strathmore University, who are yet to lose a match, winning eight and drawing one in nine fixtures, are firmly on the driving seat with 25 points, eight points clear of second placed Lakers, who have a game more. They will take on USIU in a tough fixture, also on Saturday.
