Players will use the Beach Games to prepare for the second edition of the African Beach Games set to be hosted in Tunisia from 14 to 23 June 2023.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women’s league second leg will go on as scheduled this weekend as managers have expressed the need for little if any interruptions.

The leg is on the same dates as the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) inaugural Beach Games set for Malindi, Kilifi where 4 on 4 beach volleyball will feature.

The coaches and team managers Mozzart Sport reached out to for comment on the issue revealed that it was impossible for their teams to agree to a postponement as that would interfere with their momentum both in the league and in training for continental club championships in May.

“We have been training with the second leg in mind and a postponement could easily see players lose their rhythm as not all would be involved in the beach games. We also have a training regimen geared towards preparing for the Club Championships and a switch to beach would interfere with that.

Additionally, it is also important to note that this is not part of the beach volleyball circuit so the chance has presented itself for the federation to build a portfolio of players that are specializing in beach games,” the manager offered.

The weekend matches will see holders Kenya Pipeline take on Nairobi Water and Kenya Army on Saturday and Sunday respectively while Prisons Kenya have a date with newbies Post Bank and KCB.

The bankers face off with Vihiga Team before playing Prisons in arguably the biggest and most-anticipated match of the leg.
