The national school games are set for September in Nakuru
Zebida Atieno scored 11 goals for Dagoretti Mixed to aide the Andrew Juma-coached side retain their Nairobi region Kenya Secondary School Sport Association (KSSSA) girls' handball title.
Up against Buruburu Girls, the 2019 champions who stunned experienced sides to book a maiden ticket to the national games made sure they have a second stint at the national games set for September in Nakuru.
Sheila Atsachi and Lilian Kyende added nine each to the tally as Dagoretti went on to win 37-09 against a Buruburu side that had resigned to fate after trailing 20-4 at half time.
"It was a good championship all through, not much competition but that also goes to show we were better prepared. However, we still have work to do as we head to the nationals where the competition will be tough.
This team is not as well prepared as the 2019 squad we took to the nationals but that goes for almost all teams that are expected in this year's games so we will give it our all to improve on our seventh place finish in 2019," said coach Juma adding that there was alot of adjusting to do before heading to Nakuru.
In the lead up to the final, the holders who were in pool A that had Kayole South and Dandora Secondary were cut above the rest, beating Dandora 48-00 and 30-04 against the Kayole-based school to top the pool.
In the quarters, the side also picked the biggest win beating St George's Girls 24-04. Buruburu Girls took a one-goal win at 7-6 against Ruaraka Secondary while Pangani qualified for the semis with a 6-3 victory over Highridge. Mbagathi Girls went through to the semis with a 5-4 victory over Ruthimitu.
In the semis, Mbagathi were no match for Dagoretti who picked a comfortable 30-09 victory as Buruburu scrapped through with a 7-5 victory against Pangani who finished third.
