
KPA move closer to CAVB quarters as Equity falter

The dockers finished fifth in theor last outing while the bankers are making their debut
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men's volleyball side picked their second victory at the ongoing CAVB men's club championship in a straight-sets win over INJIS of Ivory Coast.
The win puts the dockers through to the quarters as they only needed two victories to finish in the top two of their pool and book a place in the last eight. KPA won their first match 3-2 against Ethiopia's Madda University.

Sammy Mulinge's charges started the match on a high, winning the opening set 25-15 and the second 25-17. INJIS put up a fight in the third set, at one point leading 11-12 before the Kenyan side bounced back to win the set 25-17 for maximum points.
The side has one more test against VC Espoir with a win likely to guarantee KPA a seat at the top of the pool as the matches head yo the last eight.
The other Kenyan representative at the championship Equity Bank had a rough start to their debut at the continental level as they lost the opening match in straight sets at 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 against Nigeria's Customs.

Equity Bank VC (KEN) vs Gisagara VC (RWA)
1st set: 18-25
2nd set: 25-22
3rd set: 17-25
4th set: 18-25
Gisagara recovered to beat Equity Bank 3-1 after a set lost.
In their second match, the bankers managed to win a set but it was not enough to stop the determined Gisagara who picked a 3-1 (25- 18, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18).
The next matches will pit KPA against Espoir on 11 May while the bankers play Port Doula from Cameroon.
