Dynamites open their season this weekend against the holders.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) sides are in Nairobi this weekend where they look to continue their winning ways.

The women's side, unbeaten in the league so far, take on University of Nairobi (UoN) Dynamites on Saturday as the latter open their 2022 season.

The star-studded dockers, under the tutelage of Anthony Ojukwu are the better side on paper against a Dynamites side that struggled to impress in the last season despite an explosive 2019 season.

Coach Juma Kent has admitted that the varsity team is not in its best form but promised to give a fight in the first weekend matches. The side plays Storms on Sunday.

Ojukwu's charges face what is likely to be their toughest challenge of the season so far on Sunday when they take on former champions Equity Hawks in a match promising to be a thriller.

Hawks have another tough assignment on Saturday as they take on the enterprising Zetech Sparks from 12.30.

Meanwhile, coach Sammy Kiki is set to guide KPA men's side to another crucial win when they face hard-fighting UoN Terror on Saturday.

The dockers are coming off a laboured victory against former champions Ulinzi Warriors last weekend in Mombasa and the tactician says it will be important to keep the winning streak going seeing as they have already dropped points in their last visit to Nairobi.

"We are keen not to make the mistakes we made in the loss against Africa Nazarene University (ANU). Terror have a young team that could cause problems so we have prepared for the challenge we are expecting. Our defense has to be the best and that will make it easier to execute offensively," offered coach Kiki.

The side is playing their second match without the services of centre player Frankline Omondi who has since landed a professional in Burundi with Club Dynamo.
