The regular season concludes this weekend with the playoffs scheduled for later this month.
As the race for Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's league playoffs slots enters the homestretch, Wachira Gatuiria remains confident his side will make the top four.
The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) men's volleyball head coach has his work cut out on Friday 1July as he Games on another top-four hopeful Trailblazers in the highlight match of the day.
Both sides have lost three matches this season and each will fight to maintain that tally as is. A loss forSat any side complicates their chances as six teams have the ability to make it to the top four.
"If we lose we are out so this is a must win match for us. The players know this and we are ready for the challenge.
We are not under any pressure. My players have done well this season and that same fighting spirit we take to the remaining matches," offered the KFS tactician.
Trailblazers have a much easier path to the playoff slot, on paper, compared to KFS as they play Prisons Nairobi and Prisons Rift Valley in the remaining two matches.
KFS have a date with General Service Unit (GSU) on Saturday before playing Prisons Mombasa on Sunday.
"This is a repeat encounter against GSU. We have faced them before and they did not present tough opposition.
We managed to win two sets before the match was called off in the fifth set so I don't think it will be tough to handle them," added Gatuiria.
In Friday’s opening matches, Equity Bank play Administration Police (AP) while Nairobi Prisons take on Vihiga.
Meanwhile Central Prisons and their Mombasa counterparts were a no-show on Thursday leading to three walkovers. A similar situation is expected on Friday with three more matches expected to end jn a similar manner.
GSU, who dispensed Prisons Nairobi jn straight sets on Thurday are in action against Vihiga County Team.
Prisons Kenya, who needed four sets to beat AP on Thursday, are not in action on Friday as they were scheduled to play Prisons Central.
The David Lung'aho-coached warders have a rest day on Saturday before facing off with GSU on Sunday.
