The women's match serves off at noon while GSU are in action from 2.30 pm.

Defending champions in the men's and women's competitions at the annual Nyerere volleyball Cup hosted in Arusha, Tanzania GSU and DCI face APR in this year's final slated for Friday 14 October.

Coach Gideon Tarus is hoping to guide General Service Unit (GSU) to yet another title while testing his revamped squad for the upcoming Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league.

His counterpart Daniel Bor has also set a similar target for his Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) side who have also acquired some new signings ahead of the women’s league resumption.

"APR is a good side but all the same we are angling for a win. The players are ready for the title defense," Tarus said.

The paramilitary side remains unbeaten in the championship so far, having gone through the group stage without dropping a set.

Tarus' charges faced Rukinzo in the quarters and MTC in the last four winning by straight sets to qualify for the all-important final match against APR. The other Kenyan men's team Kenya Forest Service (KFS) were eliminated in the quarters by MTC in a five-set thriller.

Tarus has heaped praises on his new acquisitions saying that they have given a good account of themselves.

In preparation for the new season, the Thika-road based side ropped in Prisons Nyanza libero William Odongo who will vie for the starting berth in the position with Andrew Wafula and Gabriel Ndomboi

Also joining the side is middle blocker Dominic Chelule who joins from TrailBlazers as well as the duo of Enock Kiptum and Mathias Kemboi from KFS.

"We have rested some of our regular players for most of the matches so that the new player can get the chance to play with the squad in a competitive setting before the league and they are doing well," Tarus added.

Bor, on the other hand, has similar ambitions as he looks to guide his side to yet another title in the neighbouring country.
