The league had initially been scheduled to resume on May 22 but later postponed with a new date set for June 5.
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) leagues that were last week postponed to give participating teams room to adhere to the Ministry of Sports' protocol for return to action will now jump off on June 12, Mozzart Sport has learned.
In a team managers' meeting held on June 3, virtually, the consensus was to give teams an extra week to test their squads before resumption. The league venue remains the University of Nairobi (UoN) grounds.
Unlike the June 5 resumption that had only focused on the top tier league as per the fixtures released then, next weekend's action will also include lower leagues with fixtures released for the women's division one and men's division two league.
Eagle Wings, under coach Eunice Ouma following the exit of Evelyne Kedogo, jump off the action on June 12 at 9am against UoN Dynamites who will enjoy the court advantage seeing as the league has been moved to their backyard.
Eagle Wings were last in action during the 2019 season where they were eliminated in the playoff quarters but team manager Nelly Odera believes they are ready and will hold their own in the league as they look to better their last season's performance for a final four slot and fight for the title.
On his part, UoN tactician Juma Kent says they are racing against time to comply with the set guidelines adding that it is an expensive endeavour to test players on a match-to-match basis.
"The squad is not in a bad place but that break definitely affected our momentum. We are trying to tighten any lose ends while the regulars gel with a few new players. We are getting the fitness back slowly," said Kent.
Zetech University take on Storms while Afruca Nazarene University (ANU) play Kenyatta University (K.U) Oryx in another match.
In the men's league Strathmore Blades open with K.U Pirates while Equity Bank faceoff with Embakasi Youth (EMYBA) in the final match of Saturday.
